Awareness, Outreach & Visibility Ambassadors: YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2026
Full job description
Host entity: UNDP
Areas of expertise: Youth, Communication, advocacy, public information, Digital and social media
Application deadline: 06/11/2026
Mission and objectives
UNDP is the United Nations' global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP Rwanda works closely with the Government of Rwanda and development partners to advance sustainable development, inclusive economic growth, and democratic governance. The UNDP Rwanda Country Programme Document (CPD) 2025-2029 identifies digital transformation and health innovation as strategic priority areas, aligned with Rwanda's National Strategy for Transformation (NST2) and Vision 2050.
Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and Arts in partnership with UNDP launched Youth Connekt as a platform to connect innovative young Rwandans to help with the country’s inclusive economic transformation. This platform serves as a channel for youth, private sector, and government to address the challenges youth are facing in terms of employment and entrepreneurship
Assignment context
The YouthConnekt Africa Summit 2026 (25-27 November, Kigali, Rwanda) aims to agree a Continental Youth Generational Mission and set up country chapters that will track progress after the Summit. For this to matter, young people beyond the 5,000 in the room need to know what was discussed, what was agreed and how they can follow up.
YouthConnekt Africa is recruiting a network of online volunteers across the continent and the diaspora to share Summit messages with their own communities, before, during and after the event.
Task description
We are looking for one hundred (100) Online Volunteers to act as Summit Digital Ambassadors. Using a ready-made toolkit of messages, visuals and videos provided by UNDP and YouthConnekt Africa, each volunteer will:
• Follow the YouthConnekt Africa and UNDP Rwanda social media accounts.
• Share at least two toolkit posts per week on their personal or organisational social media, adding a short line on why the topic matters in their country.
• Encourage peers to follow the Summit online on 25-27 November.
• After the Summit, share the confirmed outcomes and the call to action (for example, joining a YouthConnekt country chapter) once the outcomes package is released.
• Collect and report questions or reactions from their audiences, so these can be passed to YouthConnekt Africa and its country chapters.
• Report weekly: number of posts shared, estimated reach, and notable comments, through a short online form.
• Join one virtual orientation session and one mid-campaign check-in.
Ambassadors share only approved materials and verified information, and should not present any commitment as made unless the outcomes package confirms it.
Online volunteers will gain experience in digital advocacy, join a continental network of young people engaged in youth policy, and receive a certificate of appreciation on successful completion.
Skills and experience
• Active user of at least one social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn or WhatsApp channels).
• An engaged network or following in an African country or diaspora community is highly desirable.
• Interest in youth development, jobs, trade, climate, the creative economy or health.
• Self-motivated and able to join virtual sessions.
